Q: Does IORR Accept Consignments?
A: Yes, We accept consignments of significant single items and small and large collections for our various auctions.
While some items (such as fraudulent or very common items) are not accepted, because of the two levels of auctions that we now hold we can accept a wide variety of items. Let us know what you have and we'll be happy to discuss your treasures and advise you accordingly.
Our signature catalog/online auctions are held at least twice a year and feature a 200+ page, full color, state-of-the-art catalog that has accurate and carefully researched descriptions, professional photographs and is organized for easy use. We print and mail thousands of these catalogs for free and sell hundreds of catalogs after the auctions that are purchased as reference guides. Because of the cost of producing and mailing the catalog we generally only accept items with a potential retail value of $500 and up for our catalog auctions.
We alternate by running an online only auction in between each signature catalog auction. The online only auction has no printed catalog and because of this we are able to accept a wider spread of item values. Because of this we are able to accept collections with a wide array of items. The items that aren't appropriate for the catalog auctions can run in the following online only auction. The consignment fee is slightly higher for our online only auctions because we do not charge a buyers premium for these auctions.
Q: What kinds of items are acceptable for consignment?
A: Any significant piece or collection of rock or entertainment memorabilia is worth discussing with us including: Awards, Concert Posters and memorabilia, Autographs, Beatles Memorabilia, Instruments, Stage Worn or Celebrity Owned Garments and Possessions, Handwritten Letters, Documents or Lyrics, Artwork, Rare Merchandise and Records. We have a proven track record of selling these items for record prices for our consignors. Q: Does IORR Purchase Items or Collections Outright?
A: Yes, We are always looking to buy significant items, small and large collections or accumulations of rock and entertainment memorabilia. HOWEVER, We will not hustle you to sell us your treasures. We are happy to take them on consignment and let you make the lions share of the profits. But if you want to or need to sell now we'll be happy to discuss your items and pay you immediately when we make a deal.
We've seen ads from people claiming they'll pay "top dollar" for your prized possessions. Be aware that most of these advertisers are dealers and their "top dollar" may actually be a lot lower than the record prices we consistently get for our consignors. They are looking to capitalize on your lack of knowledge of an items actual value. Don't get taken advantage of by ruthless sharks. Consign your treasures to IORR and get true "TOP DOLLAR!" Our experts (we employ the top experts in the fields to direct the various departments) will evaluate, authenticate and tell you what we expect your item(s) to bring at auction.

Step 2:We will review and discuss your proposed items with you. We will tell you what the items should sell for and discuss appropriate minimum bids.
Step 3:Once we've agreed to accept your consignment we will issue you a contract and review it with you so that everything is clearly spelled out and answer any questions you may have.
Step 4:You sign the contract and send it to us along with the agreed upon consignment.
It's that simple! And if you have any questions we'll answer them all!
Q: Can I Set A Reserve On My Item(s)?
A: We strongly believe that hidden reserves discourage bidders from bidding. In our auctions we do not use hidden reserves. We will work together to agree on an appropriate minimum bid for your item(s). No bids are accepted below the agreed upon minimum bid.
Q: How Is The Auction Promoted and Advertised?
A: For each signature catalog auction we advertise extensively in trade magazines, special collectors magazines and collectibles issues as well as antique and hobby publications. We take large ads and repeat advertising in many publications. We also promote the auctions and exhibit previews at major antique and collectors shows and conventions.
We aggressively market our auctions and website on the internet utilizing many search engines and click through advertising to reach our target audience. We also use direct mail campaigns and email our 30 year customer list.
We hire a major publicity firm and work with them and our over 30 years of contacts in the field.. Marc has been interviewed over 50 times on major network and national television shows and radio. We present press preview parties prior to each auction
We have been featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, The Robb Report , Forbes, and literally hundreds of newspapers, websites and publications in the United States and around the world.
Q: Is My Consignment Covered by Insurance?
A: Your consignment is fully covered by our million dollar insurance policy from the moment we receive it until it sells and is delivered to the winner or returned to you.
Q: Can I Watch The Auction As It Happens?
A: Since our auctions take place on the internet and by telephone you can watch the auction unfold in real time if you have access to the internet. We set up a special page for each consignor that lists all of their consigned items and the current bid at that time. Each time you refresh your consignor page it updates all new bids coming in real time.
Q: How Does The Auction Actually Work?
A: Our auction takes place on our website. Bidding is open to registered bidders in real-time by internet, phone, fax or mail. Registration is free. Here's a brief overview of how it works.
- We research, describe and professionally photograph all items and produce our world renowned catalog and website for each signature catalog auction.
- The catalog is mailed out and the auction goes live online on our website about 3 weeks prior to the auction closing date.
- People bid throughout the time that the auction is live. The bidding increases in minimum increments of 10% up to $5,000 and 5% increments thereafter.
- At a set time on closing night our computer system starts the "Countdown clock" which tracks the time between bids in the entire auction after that time. Each new bid on any item in the auction resets the clock to zero.
- When five minutes elapses without a bid on any item in the entire auction our computer auction system automatically ends the entire auction. All items remain open for bidding until the auction closes. Our auctions have often run well into the following day.
It is a fair system that prevents bid sniping and puts everyone on equal footing regardless of their computer skill or speed. We do not use hidden reserves. We do not allow consignors to bid on or buy back their items. We do not allow any bidding of any kind once the auction closes. Just good clean fair bidding for all. We provide call backs if you are outbid on closing night to any high bidder that requests a call back and our system allows bidders to leave a maximum bid amount whereby our system then bids on their behalf in the event that someone else bids against them.
Our customers love these features.
Q: What Happens If My Item(s) Doesn't Sell? Are There Any Fees?
A: Some auction houses charge a "Buy In" fee (usually a percentage of the reserve) if your consignments fail to sell. WE DO NOT! If your item(s) does not get any bids there are NO fees to you. If you want us to we can try to sell your unsold item(s) privately or consider running it again, in either the online only auction or a future catalog with a reduced minimum bid. Or we can return it to you.
Q: What's The Next Step?
A: Give us a call, drop us a line or send us an email and we'll make you comfortable and get you the best price possible!
